1 ETH

Geth releases v1.12.1 version, focusing on Cancun hard fork

Go Ethereum ( Geth) has released Geth v1.12.1, which Go Ethereum says may be its biggest maintenance release ever. Development for the upcoming Cancun hard fork has been a focus in this release cycle. Do note however, that Geth v1.12.1 is not yet ready for Cancun.

Holesky testnet is planned for launch roughly on Sept 15th

Parithosh Jayathi, an engineer at the Ethereum Foundation, said that the Holešovice (Holesky) testnet is planned for launch roughly on Sept 15th, and two coordination calls have been made. The testnet is intended to give client teams a platform to test clients at a scale larger than mainnet and for home stakers to test their setups without risks. Currently, Goerli is biggest testnet with ~500k validators

2 BNB

opBNB Testnet PreContract Hardfork

This hard fork aims to add the PreContract hard fork, which updates the pre-deployed contract WBNB. The hard fork block height is 5114294, expected to occur on Aug 14, 2023, at 06:00:00 AM UTC.

3 Base

Base mainnet is now live and available for everyone

Base mainnet is now live and available for everyone, with 100+ dapps and service providers available in the ecosystem and deep integrations across Coinbase products.

4 Cosmos

Cosmos Hub will perform v11 upgrade

The Cosmos Hub tweeted that Proposal #804 has passed. The CosmosHub will perform the upgrade at block 16596000 (expected to be on Wed, August 16th). v11 contains a number of updates to core dependencies and a variety of fixes. It also removes the liquidity module.

5 Ontology

Ontology MainNet v2.4.4 upgrade

Ontology mainnet v2.4.4 and consensus nodes will be upgraded. This upgrade fixes overflow errors and optimizes governance automation.

Ontology reminds all nodes and DApps to complete the upgrade before the block height of 16490000 to avoid any synchronization pause.

6 Conflux

Conflux v2.3.0 Hardfork Upgrade Announcement

The Layer 1 blockchain Conflux Network officially released the v2.3.0 hard fork upgrade announcement. CIP-112, CIP-107, CIP-118, CIP-119 & CIP-113 bring significant protocol and functional enhancements.

Key improvements include performance optimization, new metrics, and EVM code refactoring.

Important Dates:

(est. Sep 07) Nodes should upgrade before the epoch number hits 79,050,000

(est. Sep 09) CIP-107, CIP-118 & CIP-119 go live when block number touches 188,900,000.

7 Fantom

Fantom is exploring adding optimistic rollups to connect to Ethereum

Andre Cronje, co-founder and architect of the Fantom Foundation, said that Fantom is considering integrating Optimistic Rollup to connect Fantom to Ethereum. Cronje confirmed that if Fantom adopts optimistic rollups and provides a full transaction history on Ethereum, then Fantom would need to pay transaction fees to write these snapshots to Ethereum.
